Sigi Regency Government Deploys Heavy Equipment to Overcome the Impact of Flash Floods
INTERNATIONAL | SIGI, CENTRAL SULAWESI - The Sigi Regency Government, Central Sulawesi, deployed heavy equipment to overcome the impact of the flash flood that hit Rogo Village, Sunday (29/8) night.
As a result of the flash flood, the houses of residents in Hamlet I and Hamlet IV affected by the flash flood were damaged, mud material carried by the flash flood covered the residents' houses.
Other materials, such as rocks and trees, were also carried away by flash floods and covered residential areas.
"Tonight we are preparing equipment for Rogo Village, tomorrow it will be at the flash flood location," said Head of Highways of the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Sigi Eddy Mills.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the DPRD Sigi Moh. Rizal Intjenae has coordinated with the Sigi Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to immediately go to the flash flood location to assist in the evacuation and cleaning of materials.
"The Sigi BPBD evacuation team has already headed to the location. Don't wait for tomorrow," he said.
Flash floods in Rogo Village, South Dolo District, on Sunday at around 20.16 WITA hit Hamlet 1 and Hamlet 4.
The flash flood which was accompanied by rain with moderate to heavy intensity, said Head of Rogo Village Fuad Hudin, was caused by overflowing water in one of the rivers in Rogo Village.
High-intensity rain caused the water in the Rogo Village river to overflow causing the embankment to burst, resulting in flash floods that carried wood and rock materials to residential areas.
As of Monday morning, residential areas were still submerged in mud materials carried by flash floods and residents were still working together to clean the houses with the lowest mud.
"Due to the flash flood, two bridges could not be crossed because they broke. Fortunately, this flash flood did not cause people to die and no people were injured," he said.
Currently, said Fuad, residents really need heavy equipment to speed up the cleaning of flood materials from settlements and reconnect the two broken bridges.
