INTERNATIONALNEWS | BALI - Quarantine Period Reduced: The Government has reduced the mandatory quarantine period from eight to five days and expanded to 18 the number of nations now allowed to enter Indonesia. President Joko Widodo Visits Bali:  During a weekend visit to Bali, the Indonesian President expressed cautious optimism regarding the reopening of Bali's international air borders. While in Bali, Joko Widodo toured Bali's southernmost mangrove forest, an attraction he wants to share with delegates coming to Bali for the G20 Summit in November 2022.

COVID News: Despite high COVID-19 infection rates, the Republic of Singapore now allows tourists from eight fully vaccinated countries to enter their country without quarantine. 

Hotel News: Four Season Resorts in Bali have made three internal executive promotions. This edition of Bali Update includes a list of the 35 hotels certified to handle the quarantine of passengers arriving on international flights.

Crime and Police Beat: Heather Mack (25), the USA woman who participated in the murder of her mother during a Bali holiday in 2014, will be deported on 29 October after spending more than seven years behind bars. Bali Prosecutors are appealing for stiffer punishments for eight North Bali Tourism Officials found guilty of corrupting relief money intended to assist tourism operators during the continuing pandemic.

Aviation and Transportation News:  No injuries occurred when a RoRo Ferry operating between Java and Bali ran aground in Gilimanuk on 10 October 2021. Although Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport officially reopened for international visitors today (14 October), no international airlines have yet to take up any of the available flight slots.
