Ciamis Junior High School Students Distribute Food Packages for Orphans
INTERNATIONAL | CIAMIS, WEST JAVA - The 10th and 11th of Muharram in the Hijri year are celebrated by Muslims as Orphans Day. Students of SMP Negeri 2 Ciamis, West Java, distribute food packages for orphaned students. Food packages in the form of rice, snacks, and vitamins. In addition to Muharaman, this social service for distributing basic necessities was also carried out during PPKM level 3 in Ciamis Regency.
The distribution of food packages is carried out directly by students accompanied by teachers to orphans and the poor. The commemoration of the month of Muharram with the distribution of basic necessities was deliberately carried out by students to foster a sense of concern for others, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
"10 and 11 Muharam is Eid for orphans, the distribution of basic needs is expected to foster a caring spirit for others from an early age in junior high school students," explained the Principal of SMP Negeri 2 Ciamis, Yudi Nugraha to tvonenews, Thursday (19/8).
These food packages were collected from voluntary donations from students and parents. The packages are distributed directly to the homes of orphaned, elderly, and poor students. Apart from being distributed to orphaned schoolmates, food packages were also distributed to orphans and the poor in the vicinity of the school.
"The distribution of basic needs is carried out to help residents affected by PPKM and I will schedule this social service activity every year in the month of Muharram and the collection and distribution is carried out by students through the Student Council," concluded Yudi.
