Electric Shock Device is Very Effective for Protecting Self Defense
INTERNATIONAL | JAKARTA -- The incidents of robbery that occurred in a row caused the Indonesian National Police to issue permits for the public to have an electric shock device or a stun gun . The police assessed that the stun gun could be an individual self-defense tool from robbery attacks and the like.
Then, what is a stun gun ? This weapon may not be well known in Indonesia. But abroad, the stun gun is quite popular as a personal weapon.
At least there are several reasons why stun guns are effective as self-defense. Among them, the paralyzing effect caused and the size that is easy to carry.
In principle, stun guns immobilize the target by releasing a strong enough electric charge to the target's body. Although the voltage is large, the electric charge is not so strong, so it doesn't kill.
There are a number of types of stun guns that can be obtained in the market, namely the standard type, taser, and liquid stun gun . Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Standard
stun gun This standard type stun gun is the most common type known to people. The shape is designed as a tool used for close range. The resulting shock varies from just a few thousand volts to some claiming to be able to produce millions of volts.
In practice, it is not the current (volts) that causes an electric shock to be painful or not. But how much electricity is delivered (amperes).
This standard type stun gun, is predicted to be the most effective. The price is also relatively cheaper than others. It is also rechargeable, making it easy to carry anywhere.
The weakness of this type of stun gun is that it cannot be used from a distance. To immobilize the target, the owner must directly touch the target.
Taser
Taser actually can not be categorized as a stun gun . However, this tool includes an electric shock device for self-defense.
The main difference between a taser and a regular stun gun is the range of use. Taser which is generally shaped like a gun. This device can immobilize targets from a distance of 4.5 meters to 6.4 meters.
Taser works by firing a kind of "bullet" to lock the target you want to sting. The electricity that is delivered is claimed to be able to reach speeds of 50 thousand volts.
Not only "bullets", the Taser is also equipped with a melee stinger so that it can immobilize the target by touching it directly.
Using a taser to shoot from a distance carries risks. As with the use of a gun, if the owner of the taser is not good at firing it, then the "bullet" can be the wrong target. In addition, tasers are also more expensive than stun gunsnormal. Mainly because the battery can not be recharged. Owners have to buy new batteries when they run out of power.
Lastly, taser ownership is usually more closely monitored.
Liquid stun gun This
stun gun uses a liquid medium as an electric conductor. In principle, the way this type of work is similar to a taser. The difference is, this stun gun uses liquid as a bullet rather than a small wire to deliver electricity.
The liquid used is a combination of water, salt and other conducting elements. When the owner pulls the trigger, electricity will flow towards the target that has fired the liquid.
The advantage of this type is that it has a longer reach than a taser. It can also be fired in succession.
The trouble with this weapon is that the owner must bring along a device that holds this special liquid. So it's a bit inconvenient when traveling.
